Anna Briggs
Anna Briggs is our expert resource on teaching techniques, learning mindsets, teaching the gifted child, and is an instructor and senior course developer for the Center for Homeschooling.
The opportunity to work at the center is very exciting for Anna, as she herself was homeschooled as a child. It has always been Anna’s passion to create unique and engaging materials and lessons. Prior to working for the center, she was a classroom teacher. Anna had spent five years in the classroom teaching children from ages five to thirteen. Her favorite part about teaching was creating the curriculum and integrating the many content areas of learning.
During her time as a teacher, Anna became Gifted and Talented endorsed. This gave her the credentials to teach kinder through high school gifted students. This endorsement really opened her eyes into the world of diversity among learners. Many gifted students are also twice exceptional and with having a learning disability. This knowledge allows her to better identify the gifted learner and what to do to foster each child’s love for learning. She believes many of the principles and techniques used with gifted learners apply to all children.
Before teaching, Anna graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Education and a B.A. in Psychology. During her time at the University of Maine, Anna worked in a neuropsychology lab, where she learned about the brain and memory formation. This background in psychology helped Anna better understand children and the many ways to learn.
Anna instructs the Developing Lifelong Learners through Mindsets course, and is developing several courses on how to improve your homeschool teaching skills.
